HAWAIIAN MUSIC – ‘The Real Stuff!!’
HOOPII BROTHERS
The Hawaiian specialty of singing in falsetto is called “Leo ki’eki’e” and is practised by both men and women. The HOOPII Brothers are famous for it and their musical talents have been awarded the highest prize for traditional artists in 1989, during the National Folk Art Festival in Washington, USA. In this hour we will follow these brothers, born on the island of Maui, from when they started recording albums in 1975.
