An educational programme featuring early music.

Music form from the time of the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands: by Willem de Fesch, Carel Hacquart, Jacob Herman Klein and Unico Wilhelm van Wassenaer.

Today we share music which sounded in our country at the time of the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands. This covers a timespan from 1500 till 1795.
In the Republic music was mostly performed by amateur musicians, who united in a Collegium Musicum. Though music was also produced in the Amsterdam Schouwburg theatre. Which is where the Alkmaar-born violist and composer Willem de Fesch worked.
In The Hague, the Bruges-born Carel Hacquart was active as music master in such a circle. Jacob Herman Klein is considered to be the first Dutch musician to write music for the cello.
Finally, we will be listening to a Concerto Armonico by Unico Wilhelm van Wassenaer Obdam.
