The Big Sound: pianist and arranger Fletcher Henderson (1897-1952), ‘father of the Big Band’.

Fletcher Hendersons’ big band, featuring future luminaries Louis Armstrong and Coleman Hawkins, served as a model for numerous black and white jazz orchestras.
