A new God in Heaven: De muziekcassette. Uitgevonden in de zestiger jaren van de vorige eeuw door Lou Otten. En eind jaren ’70 en begin jaren ’80 het begin van een bruisende DIY-cassettecultuur, waarin muzikanten zélf hun muziek opnamen en verspreidden. In Nederland stond het VPRO-radioprogramma “De Radiola Improvisatie Salon” van Willem de Ridder aan de start van deze beweging. Van 1978 tot 1984 nodigde hij luisteraars uit hun eigen muziek op een cassette op te nemen. In deze Vrije Radicalen aandacht voor het medium muziekcassette en de door Dead Mind Records uitgegeven LP: Willem de Ridder & the Radio Art Foundation present “Radiola”.
