Classic Jazz

sat 5 jul 2025 16:00 hrs

Classic Jazz; the second programme about Cliff Jackson, one of the most important pianists from Harlem in the 1920s. His career only took off after 1930. Even in the years of economic depression. Blues artists kept making albums even in those difficult years and the tradition of piano  accompaniment also remained.

After 1930, Cliff Jackson became more well-known. He was asked for album recordings with both white musicians and musicians of colour. During the years, he collaborated with Sidney Bechet, Tommy Ladnier, Bunny Berigan and others.
