This weekend, on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July 2026, the annual Africa Festival takes place at the Hertme Open-Air Theatre. Big names lead the spectacular line-up.
This year, Senegalese superstar Baaba Maal is coming to the Twente open-air theatre together with his band Daande Leñol. And that is not all, as greats such as Malian guitar virtuoso Vieux Farka Touré, the legendary Cheikh Lô, and the fusion musicians of Trio Da Kali are also on the programme.
In addition to the major crowd-pullers, Hertme traditionally also programs smaller but very special acts. For instance, the brass section of Assia Brass Benin will get the festival grounds going, and there are various musicians who blend their musical heritage with new influences, such as Moroccan Gnawa musician Saad Tiouly and Mauritanian singer Noura Mint Seymali.
