In this intimate solo performance, Xavi Torres reveals the full depth of his musical imagination — a pianist, composer, and improviser whose sound bridges the precision of classical tradition with the fire and freedom of jazz. Born in Tarragona and based between Amsterdam and Paris, Torres has become one of Europe’s most distinctive voices at the piano.
Winner of the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award and a finalist at the Montreux Jazz Piano Competition, Xavi has toured widely as both a solo artist and collaborator, performing at stages like North Sea Jazz, Elbphilharmonie, and Umbria Jazz. His solo album Curiosity (2022) and the trio release Quarantaines (2023) showcase his talent for shaping spontaneous improvisation into vivid musical architecture — blending intricate counterpoint, rhythmic play, and deep lyricism.
Torres is also a member of Ben van Gelder’s Trio, Tineke Postma Quartet, and Reinier Baas’ Patchwork, continuously exploring new sonic territories between composition and improvisation.
In this set, every gesture feels alive — a conversation between silence, melody, and momentum, guided by a pianist whose storytelling transcends genre and language.
