Hummel Revisited

thu 13 oct 2016 11:00

In part XXII of the Hummel Revisited series, host Thijs Bonger takes you to Weimar, where Hummel enjoys his work at court. During his contractual vacation of three months he gives concerts in Berlin where he premieres his own revolutionary and virtuoso piano concert. It’s a revelation.

This is also the opinion of the Mendelssohn family, who Hummel visits. There he hears their extremely talented 12 year-old son Felix play the piano and his own composed little opera. In Weimar, Hummel becomes close friend with Goethe and often plays at his home, usually in the presence of important guests.
