Pink Floyd. Actually, Pink Floyd is quite peculiar. You hear a lot about them, and everyone has their own opinion involving the band. Especially in the days between Christmas and New Year’s, the group is played constantly, but outside of this period you hardly hear them. And then another thing, if you hear Pink Floyd, it’s usually work from after 1973, after Dark Side of the Moon. But the band had already existed for seven years at that point and had made different music before that popular album, a long road to reach the Dark Side. In a series of Popart, we dive into Pink Floyd’s earlier years: a time branded as a experimental quest, both in look and sound, to find extraordinary music. At the centre is the large – 28 CDs worth – box: The Early Years 1965-1972, but sometimes we sidestep to other sources. Tonight you will hear the first part, with music of 1966-1967, the years Syd Barrett was still in the band.
