Today Henri Salvador (1917-2008), whose hundredth birthday will be commemorated this week.
Salvador was born on 18 July 1917 and died more than ninety years later on 13 February 2008, not long after he concluded his farewell tour. His career spanned about three-quarters of a century, during which he worked together with Django Reinhardt and Boris Vian, among others. He was known for his contagious laugh and comical songs, but also manifested himself as a jazzy chansonnier, especially at the end of his career.
