Brenda Fassie
Zulu singer Brenda Fassie was very popular in South Africa and her music can still be heard in the streets. She was from the township Langa near Capetown, moved to Soweto at the age of 16 and stayed there after her breakthrough. She continued to perform in the various townships of the country, often without charging money.
