Live recordings by the Concertzender. Ruhaniyat Festival, India. Part 1.
In December our world music editor Maxim Chapochnikov went to India to attend the Ruhaniyat Festival. This festival presents mystical and Sufi music from all regions of India but musicians from other countries also join in. The word ‘Ruhaniyat’ comes from Arabic and describes the ‘spiritual charisma’ of an enlightened person.
The message of the Ruhaniyat Festival 2016 was very clear:
‘A feeling of helpless despair and confusion arises when we are surrounded by trouble and destruction and when we have no control over such things. Mystics use these situations to strengthen and test the power of faith in the divine. When the heart resounds with unconditional pure love and peace, sooner or later this will echo in another one. Let our hearts be so full of love that there will be no room for hate, and the darkness disappears and everything on our path will be enlightened. The bearers of this light of divine love are back at Ruhaniyat again, for the 16th consecutive year.’
The recordings were made on 10 December 2016 in New Delhi and provided by the Ruhaniyat Festival’s organisation Banyan Tree Events.
