Singer Helen Merrill (1930) became known for the album she recorded for Emarcy in 1954 with trumpet player Clifford Brown and the Quincy Jones Orchestra. In 1956 a second album followed with arrangements by band leader Gil Evans. In the late 50s she left for Europe and for some time settled in Italy. She recorded an extraordinary album with Italian jazz celebrities there.
