Jazz, blues and nostalgia, by Sjaak Roodenburg. Singin’ & Swingin’
You will hear a pleasant bossa nova by Frank Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim, one of the last singers of the big band era Bea Wain (who died recently at age 100), a duet between Dean Martin and the deceased comedian Jerry Lewis, a song from ‘Oklahoma’ performed by Helen Merrill’s gravelly voice, a relay race by Judy Garland and Bob Manning, ‘little jazz’ Roy Eldridge’s sublime trumpet, a small part from one of those magnificent 1944 Esquire Jazz Concerts featuring the gods of the then jazz, and much more old but still shining music.
