Concerts from around the country, recorded by Concertzender. Euro-Engels (Euro English) by the Apollo Ensemble, and Reizend langs de Rijn (Travelling along the river Rhine) by Ensemble Cercamon, part 2.
A) Euro-Engels (Euro English) by the Apollo Ensemble conducted by violinist David Rabinovich at the opening of the Travelling in Baroque Festival 2017 in the Dutch province of Flevoland.
The English Baroque in all its splendour is often represented by the German composer Georg Friedrich Händel. There also were a number of other very good composers in the same period, for instance the Italian Geminiani, or right after it, for instance Boyce, Avison and Arne. From the Late Baroque to English Classicism, Euro-Engels is a typically English programme with glamour, a surprising mix of styles, an organ concerto and of course arias from Händel’s famous Messiah.

B) Reizend langs de Rijn (Travelling along the river Rhine) by Ensemble Cercamon, part 2
In the concert Travelling along the river Rhine a lot of role models from the first centuries of the Christian era play an important role. Think of characters such as Barbara, Ursula, Willibrord and Kunera, who all lived along the river Rhine and brought forth devoutness and courage.
This is a recording of the last concert by the Dutch vocal ensemble Cercamon, started by Lida Dekkers in 1988.
Part 1 of this concert was broadcasted on Thursday 13 October 2016.
