Part two of our series of four about Johnny Hallyday (1943-2017).
Today we broadcast songs about the years 1967-1978. With Hallyday’s French version of ‘Hey Joe’ a.o., recorded before Jimmy Hendrix scored a hit with it. Hallyday discovered the still unknown Hendrix in 1966 and let him perform in his supporting programme. Jimmy and Johnny, they were two rockers in heart and soul, but sadly for Hallyday, the French language was better suited for chansons. We’ll illustrate this with some good examples in this broadcast.
