Genius Music Friends

thu 12 jul 2018 11:00 hour

In the series “Genius Music Friends” Thijs Bongers tries to find out as much as possible about the close friendship between Haydn and Mozart. Especially how they have influenced one another. They played together in a string quartet, with which they performed Haydn’s newest series of six string quartets, opus 33. Ingeniously written, highly original, and for Mozart a source of inspiration. You don’t often hear them in the concert hall. We are going to play for you a selection of the best parts of this opus. And, to conclude, let you hear how Mozart continued to build on this inspiration with his own new series of six string quartets  dedicated to, in his words,  “Pappa” Haydn.
