Part VIII
In the ‘Genius Music Friends’ series, Thijs Bonger reports on the friendship between Haydn and Mozart and tries to unravel how they inspired each other. After all the string quartets from the previous episode we now move onto different genres. The gloomy start of Symphony no. 78 by Haydn was a shining example for Mozart. He built on this in his dramatic Piano Concerto in c kl, KV 491. We will play this integrally followed by the first two parts of Symphony no. 78, by Haydn, which you rarely get to hear performed at the concert hall.
