Govert Jan Bach’s weekday programme about the oeuvre of Johann Sebastian Bach. Episode 647. This week’s theme: the Lutheran Masses, the Missae Brevis.
A mass will be played every day, up to and including Thursday. Bach continually reused previous pieces of cantatas (parodies) for these. Prior to every Missa Brevis you will hear a selection of the music pieces upon which Bach’s mass was based. We will conclude the week on Friday with a Missa Brevis by Johann Ludwig Bach.
