Traditional classical music from Iran by the Shandiz Ensemble.
Iranian Folk Songs – Iranian Old Songs – Shandiz Ensemble.
The Shandiz ensemble consists of Mehrnaz Salehi (vocals), Imre KebluĊĦek (cello) and Hamid Tabatabaei (fortepiano).
The Folk Songs, some of which are centuries old, come from all corners of Iran and are sung in the corresponding languages and dialects: Persian, Kurdish, Gilaki, Lori, Mazandarani and Turki. Neither the composers nor the writers of most songs are known. Love, desire and sadness are the most important themes.
The Old Songs are a collection of songs that were popular in Iran in the period 1900 to 1950. They are also known by many younger Iranians. In addition to the aforementioned themes, resistance and rebellion also play a role in the Old Songs.
