Genius Music Friends

thu 16 may 2019 11:00 hrs

In part XIII Mozart returns to Vienna after his trip to Berlin. His popularity is waning and in addition to that, the expensive war with the Turkish means that the number of concerts also plunges dramatically. He is therefore up to his neck in debt.

Haydn’s new employer terminates the expensive court orchestra, which suddenly leaves him with nothing to do. But he does still get paid. Mozart and him meet often and will play either a string quartet or a string quintet. Haydn is preparing for a concert tour in London for which he writes new quartets, they play through them together. Mozart dives into a new genre: the string quintet. Which brings him to new heights. These are the quintets that the two genius music friends play during many of the joyous evenings they spend together.
