Vocal Jazz

Composer: Fats Waller

In the early thirties, piano player and vocalist Bob Howard (1906 – 1986) regularly performed in some well-known jazz clubs in New York. In 1935, Decca asked him to produce records that could compete with the well-selling recordings of pianist/singer Fats Waller and his Rhythm, contracted by RCA Victor. Accompanied by excellent jazz musicians, Howard recorded a large number of popular albums. In 1938, Decca terminated their cooperation because of failing results. Today’s programme features an ample selection of his recorded works.
