The genie out of the bottle. Special crossover music, chosen by Ton Maas.
Many instruments know legendary players – with trumpet you still think immediately and inadvertently about Miles – but not often history can be divided in before and after. It happened to the electrical guitar when it fell into the hands of Jimi Hendrix. Actually, almost all guitarists are indebted to this genius, who passed away early in life, although they don’t always practise that openly. In this episode of Slipped through the net, we pay attention to two special guitarists who express to be heir to the master: Nguyen Le and Jean-Paul Bourelly. The latter one almost never performed in the Netherlands, but is surprisingly enough present with his trio [see photo] on the Amsterdam festival On The Roof on 14 and 15 June.
