Benny Carter (1907-2003) was besides an excellent alto saxophone player, also a competent arranger and composer.
He also wrote the lyrics for many of his own songs.
In this episode, various singers provide a magnificent interpretation of songs of Carter’s work, chosen by Carter himself, for which he also made the arrangements.
In the accompanying combo we not only hear Carter, but also, among others, Warren Vaché playing the cornet.
