Series about and with Catalan gambist and conductor Jordi Savall. Episode 103: An episode full of contrasts: Neapolitan music from the 15th century and parts of Savall’s new CD ‘Mozart, Le Testament Symphonique’.
First, 15th century dance music and polyphony reflecting the spheres of the Neapolitan court of Alfons V the Magnanimous. This music is a foretaste of Hespèrion XXI’s concert at the Early Music Festival 2019.
But then a leap into the classical period of 1750-1820. In May 2019, Savall’s label AliaVox released a new double-CD: ‘W.A. Mozart, Le Testament Symphonique, Symphonies 39, 40 & 41’. In this episode, you will hear number 39 in full, in four parts, and one part of number 40. More to come in the next episodes.
