1- RAGA GANGESHWARI
This raga takes listeners to an open-air concert in a temple on the banks of the Ganges in 1968. Although recorded with a hand-held microphone, this raga is representative of the many treasures of the archive that the Ravi Shankar describes as, “Not recorded with advanced audio equipment and yet they display the power of life in live performance that has a value that goes beyond any technological shortcomings. ” The intimate quality of the recording and the virtuoso playing let listeners experience a page from the artist’s diary around 1968. Performed together with Kamala Chakravarty on tanpura and Allah Rakha on tabla.
