The Palace of Nostalgia

tue 3 sep 2019 10:00 hrs
Composer: Noël Coward

Jazz, blues and nostalgia, by Sjaak Roodenburg.

Swing and gloom in the Palace. In “Anything you can do, I can do better”, a duel on the guitar by Tal Farlow and Mary Osborne and a battle on the trumpet by Clark Terry and Norma Carson. Swing by Glen Gray with the Casa Loma Orchestra, the amazing Lee Wiley who is blessed with a beautiful melancholic sound. The vocal cords of baritone Andy Russels’, with Mexican roots are dripping with nostalgia. Also in the Palace Mrs. Miller who indulges in a Beatles’ song and the same song exceptionally covered by Goldie Hawn. Country blues by Patsy Cline (“I’ve loved and lost again”) and Roy Shaffer (“Disappointed in love”), cool jazz by Chet Baker and Art Pepper, Tony Murena’s swinging accordion and the KRO-Dancing Orchestra with Ado Broodboom. Last but not least, Ella Fitzgerald, vocal group The Revelers, band leader Martin Denny “father of the exotics”, multi-talented Noël Coward, violist Stuff Smith and the singing street artist from Antwerp Paul Boey, whose “my ragged body” marked the end.
