The Source of Sound

wed 8 apr 2020 02:00 hour

The Source of Sound involves the material, the movement and the vibration of which music arises.

The Source of Sound, episode 53: Healing Songs.

Today’s episode of The Sound of Source is about the healing power of music, including  healing songs and dances, singing healers and music with which a soul is said farewell. The program starts with an old Greek ode to Asclepius, the ancient Greek god of medicine and healing, followed by healing dances from Cambodia, the Tuareg from Mali,  the !Kung San living in Botswana and the Aka people from Central Africa. You can also listen to Siberian and American shamans and, from the highlands of Vietnam, music intended for the soul of the deceased. We’ll end this programme with a unique recording of a healing ritual performed by the Thai Dam in Laos.
