Bohuslav Martinu is at the center of today’s episode
Martinu, along with Leoš Janáček, is considered to be one of the most important Czech composers of the 20th century. Martinu’s oevre counts more than 400 works including 6 symphonies, 15 operas, 14 works for ballet, numerous pieces for orchestra and a lot of chamber music. The Concertzender has recorded no less than 60 live performances of Martinu’s works. Today we will listen to a few of these recordings, made during the Jagthuis Festival in Nederhorst den Berg in 2006.
