Dance music by brass players.
Recently, an amazing CD with Walloon dance tunes for brass quartet has appeared in Belgium. Four passionate amateurs – a conservator, a postman, a psychologist and a house painter – respectively on the flügelhorn, cornet, euphonium and bass tuba, breathe new life into an old tradition. In the first half hour of our programme you will hear some pieces of the CD Arguàdènes, which means something like tunes or melodies.
Next will be music of Werner Puntigam [picture] from Austria, with his group Mambas. He too loves dance music, but he focuses mainly on other parts of the world, and he highly values improvisation.
