Old style Jazz: In 1920, piano player and promoter Perry Bradford convinced de firm Okeh to release gramophone records of the black singer Mamie Smith. This breakthrough was a big success. In this broadcast you will hear recordings from 1923-1925 of Bradford’s bands, such as Gulf Coast Seven, the Original Jazz Hounds en Perry Bradford’s Jazz Phools.
