Once more, we hear legendary pianists as accompanists. Today, we listen to the celebrities Edwin Fischer and Gioconda de Vito. Episode 169.
The rerun of this programme will be broadcast on Thursday morning 20 August 2020, from 11 to 12 am . Because of the coronavirus crisis, this episode has again been recorded without the help of Louis Thörig and again, not in Marco Wensveen’s studio, but in Geoffrey’s own.
Episode 169 is is a continuation of the series on legendary pianists as accompanists. Today it’s the turn of Edwin Fischer, pianist and Gioconda de Vito, violinist. We begin by comparing two themes: one is the first theme from Brahms’ first sonata and the other the famous song ‘Singing in the rain’.
