Western religious music from different centuries. Today: two cantatas and two motets of Johann Ludwig Bach (1677-1731), a second cousin of Johann Sebastian.

From 1711 until his death, Johann Ludwig Bach was Kapellmeister in the German town of Meiningen. Thanks to Johann Sebastian, a few of his cantatas were saved. Johann Sebastian performed eighteen cantatas of Johann Ludwig in Leipzig. Besides, eleven motets of his were also preserved. The majority of these were for double choir and basso continuo. Two of these we hear in this programme.
