Jules de Corte in The Palace of Nostalgia.
Twenty-five years ago, on the 16th of February 1996, Jules de Corte passed away. He was a singer, pianist and one of the most talented Dutch songwriters and he left a repertoire of over four thousand songs.
You can now listen to an hour of highlights from that repertoire, like “Het feest dat nooit gevierd werd” (The party that was never celebrated), “Liedje van de wind” (Song of the wind), his biggest hit “Hallo Koning Onbenul” (Hello, King Simpleton, which, ironically enough, was sung loudest by the simpletons themselves), the sad story of “Ome Jan” (Uncle Jan), with whom the entire family quarrelled. Also, songs that were controversial in their time like “Het bruidspaar” (The bridal couple), sweet songs like “Juultje van Pingelen” and of course “Ik zou weleens willen weten” (I would like to know someday).
