The bumpy relationship between Beethoven and Haydn
In today’s episode of ‘Stubborn Student’, we’ll listen to the unmeasurably rich imagination of Beethoven. He felt quite at home when there was a lot of variation in the music because he was an unequalled improviser. He wrote the first song we’ll listen to when he was twenty years old; here, he showed his skill playing the ‘Righini’ Variations WoO 65. After that, we’ll listen to his sunny Octet for wind instruments, Op. 103. We’ll end with two early songs.
