Concertzender Live

Nearly every country in the West has its own baroque tradition: Italy, France, Germany, England, Spain, Portugal … and Latin America. In the New World, like anywhere, the demand for music was huge. There was an indigenous population to be converted to Christianity, and a community of colonists that wanted to be entertained as they had been at home. As always in places where different peoples meet, cultures started to blend. As a consequence, Latin American baroque is often brimful of indigenous folklore. It allows dancing in ways European baroque never does.

Since his days as a student, Adrián Rodríguez Van der Spoel has specialised in this baroque Latin music. His ensemble Música Temprana helps him revive these traditions.
