Khasi-Cymru Collective.
Bringing together the music of Wales (UK) and the Khasi hills (North East India), the album ‘Sai-thaiñ ki Sur (The weaving of voices) is a unique intercultural collaboration. Between 1841 and 1969, hundreds of men and women left Wales to establish the first Welsh Overseas Mission in the Khasi and Jaiñtia Hills. This album explores folk songs, poetry, missionary hymns, folklore and the resulting culture of the crossing from Wales to India. Welsh songwriter Gareth Bonello recorded this album with artists from the Khasi indigenous community. CD. ‘Sai-thaiñ ki Sur – the weaving of voices – Khasi-Cymru Collective.
