Concertzender Live

Concerts from around the country, recorded by Concertzender

Today, the two hours of Concertzender Live: Classical are entirely dedicated to the Van Swieten Society. This variable ensemble of exceptional quality is composed for every programme from Dutch orchestras and ensembles. The artistic leadership and the keyboard of the fortepiano are in the hands of Bart van Oort, and known and unknown chamber music from the classical period is on the music stands. Today, you can listen to the famous Geistertrio, the piano trio Op. 70 No. 1 by Beethoven and the piano trio in E major, KV 452 by Mozart. You will also be listening to shorter works by Arriaga, Myslivicek, Kraus and Chevalier de Saint-George, all of whom have the dubious honour of always being compared to Mozart, yet never lived up to him. Furthermore, alongside works by João Domingo Bontempo and Francesco Geminiani, you will hear two Scottish songs by Joseph Haydn, which he arranged for soprano and piano trio during his stay in London.
