Northern Lights

fri 6 aug 2021 12:00 hrs
Composer: Jean Sibelius

Northern Lights XIV.  Scandinavian and Baltic music.

Northern Lights features an hour exclusively devoted to Scandinavian and Baltic music every fortnight. There are no limits to our quest surrounded by old and new, known and less known. And we like to include the whole spectrum of classical music and crossovers as well. Today’s episode features Norwegian and Finnish work. Firstly, two works from a Norwegian collaborative project on the theme of ‘music from the depths of the forest’. The finale is a symphonic poem for orchestra and soprano by the lesser-known Finnish composer Erkki Melartin, a contemporary of Sibelius.
