Danish folk music with a whiff of pop.
The group ZAR debuted in 2003 with the album Tusind Tanker. On it, you could immediately hear that singer Sine Lahm Lauritsen was strongly influenced by pop vocalists such as Christina Aguilera. The jazzy foundation work of double bassist Steffan Søgaard Sørensen also contributed to the quintet’s highly recognisable sound. Five years later, they released a second album – Der Braender and Ild – after which Lauritsen called it a day and went on a world tour.
