Concertzender Live

Live-opnames gemaakt door de Concertzender, van concerten uit het hele land

As part of the Orlando Festival 2016, a number of concerts took place in the Aula Major of Rolduc Abbey. As every year, at the end of weeks full of chamber music, the teachers played, whether or not in an existing composition for the assembled audience and the students. To start with, we listened to the Storioni Trio with Robert Schumann’s beautiful first piano trio. Livia Sohn, violin, Ron Schaaper, horn and Hardy Rittner, piano perform Brahms’ fascinating horn trio, and the Lafayette Quartet from Canada play Antonín Dvořák’s well-known and sometimes deeply melancholic string quartet op.96. What a fantastic programme! In addition, you can also enjoy the music to some of Maurice Ravel’s Fairy Tales of Mother Goose. And in a very special arrangement. Peter Tornyai wrote a version for flute, clarinet, violin and piano especially for the Hungarian Weiner Ensemble. To conclude this Concertzender Live Classical programme, you will hear the trio by Charles Koechlin. This composer was always looking for unusual sounds and he chose the versatile combination of flute, clarinet and bassoon.
