Episode 977. In this Bach week we stay with the theme of the Festival Oude Muziek 2021: Rhetoric in music. We hear a number of great works from the Baroque era, the first being the Mariavespers by Claudio Monteverdi. This work is an example of applied rhetoric in the Baroque and served as a model for composers such as Schütz, J.S. Bach and Handel.
