The Night: Jazz

tue 7 dec 2021 01:00 hour
Composer: Leo Smit

Every Tuesday night

An entire night filled with jazz, this episode focuses on percussionists as group leaders.

The Night: Jazz = jazz from the collection of Jordy de Muijnk. The first half of the night, we focus on percussionists who have recently released an album as the leader of a group. We will start with Andrew Cyrille and his CD Lebroba. He was born in 1939 and is still one of the great innovators of percussion. For many years he played with pianist Cecil Taylor and, despite his respectable age, he remains one of the most popular and in-demand drummers in mainstream jazz.
