Concertzender Live

Concerts from around the country, recorded by Concertzender

In this broadcast two song recitals. On 13 February 2019, world-renowned tenor Christoph Prégardien sang an exceptionally varied programme in the main hall of the Muziekgebouw aan het IJ, featuring ballads by Loewe and songs by Schumann, Liszt and Mahler.

Furthermore, he presented a beautiful range of Schubert songs. He alternates between known and unknown and ends with Ständchen, as an encore. Michael Gees, with whom Prégardien has made many wonderful recordings, accompanies him on the modern grand piano, as he usually does.

The second recital is by young Spanish baritone Josep-Ramon Olivé. He starts off with Schubert, here too we hear known and unknown and he finishes with Richard Strauss. The wonderful and widely known Morgen, which the composer wrote as a wedding present for his own bride, is followed by Heimliche Aufforderung by the master from Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
