Recently released new music: Dutch music for viola and violin
Today we present two CDs with works by Dutch composers.
First of all, an album by Channel Classics with viola player Dana Zemtsov (pictured), titled Dutch Hidden Gems. On it, she plays 20th century works for viola by Dutch artists, all of which deserve more attention. The CD includes Henk Badings’ Viola Concerto and Jan Koetsier’s Concertino for Viola and Orchestra. We will play the Sonata for Viola and Piano by Badings, and a short Pavane for Viola and Strings by Arne Werkman..
The second CD was not released recently, but is rather unknown. Which is why it suits this programme well. It is an album containing the Violin Sonata ‘Deep River’ by Willem Wander van Nieuwkerk and Motion Games by Thomas Beijer. You can find more information on the violin sonata here.
