Field recordings made in Kyrgyzstan in 1996, 2001 and 2003, by the French musician and ethnomusicologist Jean During.
This music is of strict oral tradition and is based on transmission and improvisation.
The pieces on the album are different in style: instrumental pieces played on different instruments (violin, harp, lute), popular and epic songs.
