Concertzender Live

tue 9 aug 2022 14:00

Concerts from around the country, recorded by Concertzender.

On today’s broadcast, a rich palette of Concertzender’s own recordings. You will hear registrations from Recital Hall of the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, dating back to the 2016-2017 concert season.

To start with, there’s a colourful ensemble under the inspiring leadership of violinist Liza Ferschtman. They play Schubert’s glorious octet for string quintet with double bass and clarinet, bassoon and horn. A delightful combination that one could almost call a chamber orchestra. Over the course of an hour, all possible sound combinations and musical interactions appear in six parts.

Next, you will hear the talented and inspirational Swedish violist Ellen Nisbeth. She is accompanied by the all-rounder Bengt Forsberg, born in the same Scandinavian country. Together they play the famous Arpeggione Sonata by Schubert, and a number of Nisbeth’s arrangements of songs that lend themselves perfectly to performance on viola.
