The baroque spirit in all its musical forms. Today, we will play instrumental music by Johann Joseph Fux.
Born in 1660 as the son of a farmer in the Austrian state of Styria, he became one of the most important composers of his time. From 1690 onwards, he worked in Vienna and was appointed to the court in 1698. He remained there until his death in 1741. His initial responsibilities were church music and instrumental music, and later he also wrote secular theatrical works, mainly one-act plays. Today, we will limit ourselves to his instrumental music.
