Today: The war has begun and in that first year of war, Prokofiev’s output is very limited, with the exception of his sixth piano sonata, also known as his first war sonata. This low production characterized the entire classical music sector in the USSR, with the exception of the avant-garde modernist Nikolav Roslavets, whose music had been banned since 1930. We will hear his sixth and final sonata for violin and piano from 1940.
