Concertzender Live

Live recordings of concerts featuring Early Music. This time we will hear the recordings of the concerts ‘In Memoria Mea: 500 years of Josquin’ by Cantus Modalis and Seconda Pratica conducted by Rebecca Stewart, and ‘A Thousand Times No Day Without Bach’ by carillon player Arie Abbenes.

A) In Memoria Mea: 500 years of Josquin

Josquin Desprez, the undisputed master of Franco-Flemish polyphony in the 16th century, was preoccupied with death. He established a tradition of writing In Memoriams for colleagues whom he held in high esteem. In memory of Johannes Ockeghem, he wrote “Nymphes des Bois”. And this was followed by others. For example, a motet attributed to Adriaan Willaert was preserved, dedicated to Josquin.
